A Legacy of Craftsmanship & Culinary Excellence.

Armour House is a refined interpretation of the classic brasserie, seamlessly blending European influences with bold Southern ingredients. From the artistry of dry-aged beef to an exceptional raw bar, every detail is designed to honor both tradition and innovation. In historic downtown Birmingham, within the storied walls of what was once the bustling Armour & Company meatpacking building, a new chapter of culinary craftsmanship is being written.

The creation of Armour House is a collaborative vision from a team of entrepreneurs, designers, and culinary experts who share a passion for crafting unforgettable experiences.

Executive Chef & partner, Jeffrey Compton

Jeffrey's upbringing in the South has given him a deeply rooted connection to the food scene from an early age. This is embodied in his strong commitment to connecting local farmers with the community.

"As chefs, we have the privilege of sharing the narrative behind our food and its significance to us. I aim to ignite the same level of enthusiasm in our guests for the ingredients that I have when I cook with them."

Prior to a successful restaurant opening in Homewood, Jeffrey served as Chef de Cuisine at Acre in Auburn, Alabama. His exceptional talent and dedication played a pivotal role in Acre earning a multitude of prestigious awards including 2018 Best Restaurant in Alabama from Southern Living Magazine, a spot on Open Table's 50 Best Southern Restaurants in the Nation, and Best Farm-to-Table Restaurant in Alabama from Travel & Leisure.

His culinary style has been shaped by his extensive travels through Southern Europe where he explored the picturesque landscapes of France, Spain, Italy and Greece. The rich and diverse flavors he encountered along the way inspired him to create a sophisticated yet rustic approach to cuisine.

It stands as a testament to what happens when craftsmanship, business acumen, and a passion for gathering come together. Whether you’re here for a beautifully aged steak, an exquisite seafood tower, or simply a perfectly crafted cocktail, every element has been carefully curated to leave a lasting impression.

Beyond the plate, Armour House is a space designed for connection, whether through an indulgent meal in the dining room or an intimate evening at Pogo Cocktail Bar, our sister concept located just below Armour House.
